One set of definitions

Every conversion uses unit definitions stored in category data. Linear conversions scale through the category’s base unit. Temperature readings also apply a zero-point offset. Currency is separate because exchange rates are not fixed measurement definitions.

result = (base − destination offset) ÷ destination factor

Definitions are checked against the BIPM SI Brochure, the NIST Guide to the SI, and NIST binary-prefix guidance. Individual conversion pages identify the relevant reference and unit conventions.

Precision and verification

The calculator uses JavaScript double precision. Default answers favor readable rounding; the precision control and tables display up to ten significant digits. Tests check known constants, temperature boundaries, decimal versus binary units and every generated pair’s round trip. These checks do not certify an instrument or improve a measured quantity’s precision.

Content standards

A page must provide a working compatible converter, the unit relationship, a useful table, a worked example, applicable definitions, and links to reverse and related conversions. We do not publish separate pages for arbitrary input numbers, invented units or unsupported currency quotes. There is no minimum word count: explanations should resolve the actual measurement question.

Corrections and responsibility

When a definition changes or an error is identified, update the underlying unit record first, rerun the conversion tests and rebuild its affected pages. Examples and source links require editorial review alongside code changes. No named expert review, professional certification or endorsement is implied.

Languages and advertisements

Language homepages currently translate introductory text and core controls; unit names and reference articles remain English. Conversion pages do not claim nonexistent translated equivalents. Advertising integration is currently disabled. Future placements belong after the reference content and must be clearly labeled, separate from inputs, copy buttons and navigation.
